Operational research in water and salt management at Haryana Agricultural University in India : consultants report

Based on the assumption that discharge from the aquifer in the central part of Haryana State does not significantly contribute to the State's water balance, in the long term a solution has to be provided to maintain the overall salt balance in Haryana State. Since on many locations in the State the groundwater table has risen close to the surface the subsoil leaves not sufficient space for disposal of leached salts. It is recommended that alternatives such as: disposal to the sea through a transport canal; disposal by evaporation lakes in lower lying parts of the State, are evaluated
